“Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of
heaven belongs to such as these.”
- Matthew 19:14
Children are a priority at Campbell United Methodist Church.
Our goal is to make Campbell a place where children can grow in knowledge and love for God as they enjoy the fellowship of others in our community of faith. We minister to children from birth through fifth grade on Sundays, Wednesday nights and during special events.
When your family comes to Campbell to worship, we want to
ensure the entire family isinvolved in the process!
Childcare is available for all worship services and Wednesday evening activities for ages 3 and younger.
There is also a "wiggle room" available at the south end of the Sanctuary for families during services.
If childcare is needed for the meeting of a class or committee, please notify the Church Office at (417)881-2018.
Sunday School classes are provided during the 9:30 hour for children ages 2 years old though 5th grade. Sunday school classes age 3 years -3rd grade meet in their classrooms and then travel to “workshops” where they all study the same Bible story but in different ways, including through crafts, drama, games and more. After workshops, they return to their classrooms for wrap up, prayer and dismissal. We use the Bible as our main text in conjunction with the workshop rotation model. This model allows the children to experience the same Bible story over a period of 4-5 weeks using different methods like mentioned above. 4th and 5th grade Sunday School classes meet in their classrooms and use a curriculum developed by their teachers based on traveling though the Bible, learning the books and stories as they go.
Talking Box is a portion of the 10:50 worship service when children are asked to come to the front of the sanctuary and listen to the week's bible story told on their level.
Children's Church is offered for 2 year olds through 2nd grade during the 10:50 service. Children go to the sanctuary with their families first then come to room 123 after the talking box time. During this time the children are led through a worship service specifically designed for them.
Kids Connect is offered during the fall, winter and spring on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30p.m.. During this time we learn how to be more like Jesus though worship, bible lessons, games, choir and other fun activities.
4th and 5th Grade Fellowship:
Once a month we join together to build community through an activity on Sunday afternoon.
This group is open to 4th and 5th graders, the purpose is to give this group some extra fellowship and mission opportunities as they get closer to being part of the Youth group in 6th grade.
Acolytes are part of a ministry for 2nd through 5th graders that allows them to be a part of the worship service. They are trained and then put on a rotation to light the candles on the chancel during the 10:30 worship service.
Children's Choir is a group of childern that are excited to sing praises to God. These children meet at 6:30pm on Wednesdays to practice and prepare to help lead the children's worship time.
Vacation Bible School:
VBS is offered every summer. Children are encouraged to join us and bring friends for exciting Bible lessons, games, worship time, and fellowship. Our 5th graders spend their VBS week doing mission work locally and getting to know the youth leaders. The children are encouraged to donate supplies to help a needy organization each year. We focus our mission giving to a local and international organization, with our very own Rainbow Network often being the recipient.
3rd Grade Bible and Children's Sunday:
Each year in the Fall our Children's Ministries become the focus of worhsip services on one Sunday morning. Children age pre-k and up are encouraged to help in all 3 of the worship services by greeting, passing out bulletins, collecting offering, reading scripture and leading prayer. The 3rd graders receive Bibles during one of the worship services on this Sunday morning.
The children’s Fall Festival is held each year in October. It allows children to put on their costumes and come out for dinner, games, crafts, and Trunk-or-Treating! This is a community wide event that is offered free!
The Nativity Parade is a favorite tradition at Christmas each year. Children of all ages join us in costume for the parade. We have all of the elements of the first Christmas to remember the reason for the season.
The backbone of our children's ministry exists with those who serve! The children here at Campbell get to experience what they do because of our volunteers. Do you love working with children? Have you been seeking a place to get plugged-in here at Campbell? If you are interested in using your time and talents to help with Campbell Kids, please contact Chris Jackson (firstname.lastname@example.org). The reward is GREAT!
